Mission Trip: Act Local

Act Local is like a high school mission trip, but instead of traveling to other cities or other states, we stay right here in Duluth.  Because there are needs, right here in Duluth.  And there are amazing organizations we can partner with, right here in Duluth.  Like CHUM and LSS and Second Harvest Food Bank!  And when our high school students partner and work with local organizations, there’s an opportunity for them to continue that service work, beyond our one week together.  A mission trip is typically a “one time thing”; whereas “Act Local” we can do again and again.  We did A LOT of good.  We had A LOT of fun.  And we did it all locally – just like our church’s mission statement affirms: we reach out locally and globally.  And, we will do it again next year!  Act Local 2017!  Open to all high school students, so stay tuned for more information!

Peer Ministry

Peer Ministry is a leadership training for 10th grade students.  The training includes listening skills, communication, decision making, and of course, growing in faith.  We meet several Wednesday evenings, starting in November, in preparation for the January Confirmation Retreat.  This retreat is completely led by our Peer ministers.  Also, Peer Ministers from previous years are welcome to come help.

Our High School Ministry here at Good Shepherd is just beginning to grow.  If you have ideas for this age group, and if you'd be willing to help lead, please contact Katie Rich, Director of Youth & Family Ministry at kkrich@lcgsduluth.org
